01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of West Hollywood, Awan redefines the ice cream experience with its innovative, dairy-free creations and a sophisticated, modern vibe. This boutique ice cream shop specializes in creamy, plant-based pints crafted with exceptional attention to quality and flavor, making it a must-visit destination for both vegan enthusiasts and ice cream lovers seeking something refreshingly different.

Awan’s menu showcases a thoughtfully curated selection of signature pints and drinks that emphasize bold, natural ingredients. Their standout offering, the DAYGLOW COFFEE 16OZ, features rich espresso notes from premium Dayglow Coffee beans roasted locally in Los Angeles, all blended into a velvety coconut base. This dairy-free, vegan, and gluten-free pint delivers an indulgent yet clean coffee flavor that pairs beautifully with their canned Dayglow cold brew options—smooth, bold, and free from bitter aftertaste. For fruit lovers, the STRAWBERRY 16OZ is a celebration of fresh, sweet Gaviota strawberries, imparting an authentic and naturally sweet berry burst without artificial additives.

The atmosphere at Awan is equally captivating—simple, sleek, and undeniably photogenic. Customers often remark on its stylish yet unpretentious design, making each visit feel special. This setting perfectly complements the sophisticated nature of their products, inviting patrons to savor each spoonful slowly. The friendly and attentive service further enhances the experience, with staff members eager to guide guests through the unique flavor profiles and pairings.

Customer reviews consistently highlight the shop’s commitment to quality and innovation. Eric Lao praised the ice cream’s creamy texture and subtle sweetness, emphasizing the standout ingredient quality and the appeal of vegan options. Meanwhile, J Shin found pure joy in the vanilla coconut ice cream, describing it as “absolutely heavenly” and a “totally worth it” treat despite the small shop size and occasional lines. Toni Smailagic shared how the warm, patient service and the opportunity to sample multiple flavors made their visit unforgettable. Another voice, K Sila Gumus, appreciated the natural, not overly sweet flavors and recommended it highly for those with lactose intolerance. Though some patrons like Kelly Sidney noted the premium pricing, the overall consensus remains that Awan’s unique vegan coconut base and artisanal approach justify the experience.

Beyond its delectable flavors, Awan also offers premium merchandise such as embroidered hats and collectible metal spoons, perfect for superfans eager to celebrate a brand that champions sustainability and style. These exclusive items elevate the connection between the brand and its community, making every visit more than just a dessert stop but a lifestyle choice.

For anyone in West Hollywood craving a refreshing alternative to traditional ice cream, Awan delivers on all fronts—taste, quality, aesthetic, and values. It’s more than just ice cream; it’s a sensory journey crafted with passion, designed to delight and surprise with every creamy scoop.

Awan offers a unique and memorable ice cream experience. The atmosphere is very distinct and stylish — simple, modern, and photo-worthy. Service was friendly and efficient. Although the flavors aren’t overly sweet, the texture is incredibly creamy and satisfying. The quality of ingredients really stands out, and the vegan options are a big plus. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something different from your usual scoop!

We came to this place on a whim after dinner about 2 weeks ago and I have NOT stopped thinking about it since. It’ll just pop into my mind randomly in the middle of a meeting and then I’ll set a mental reminder to leave a review . The service was phenomenal; I was with friends that wanted to test out the majority of the flavors, and the man that was helping was SO very patient and mindful and it really felt like he loved working there, and the attention to detail of every crumb that was placed, the way the ice cream was stacked, the gentle nature of the experience alone is worth going there for. Now, the ice cream itself?? I have no words. I LOVE food and desserts & I’m a type that will try anything once, and this ice cream tops my list of dessert experiences. Just wow. Every. Single. Flavor. If I lived in LA, this would be a problem for me. My only regret was not buying a hat or hoodie while I was there (hoodie design & quality is A+!). Love love love!

LOVED Awan’s vegan coconut-based ice-creams. This would be a 5 star review if the price for the portion wasn’t so darn steep… I ordered one scoop of matcha guava and one scoop of the Lilikoi flavor which came out to $12 for two scoops. When I was rang up, I was also asked to leave a tip ! Yikes. The taste of the ice cream was wonderful but the vibe was kinda weird and definitely pricey.

Loved it! It is the best option in town. If you have lactose intolerance you should try it. The flavors was so natural, they weren't super sweet. My new fav place for ice cream.

Love vanilla coconut icecream only! This is a really small ice cream shop, but the long line makes perfect sense once you try it. I had the vanilla coconut ice cream and it was absolutely heavenly—so creamy and full of flavor. There’s also a small seating area prepared, which made it nice to enjoy on the spot. I sampled a couple of other flavors, but the coconut was by far my favorite. Totally worth the wait, and I’d definitely come back just for that flavor alone.

Gaviota strawberry remains my favorite - also tried the seasonal cantaloupe melon this time. Split scoop $10. Price is reasonable for the quality and comparable to other premium ice creams in LA. The texture is incredible, but melts fast in the heat so eat it quickly. Cups only. Always friendly service and offers samples, but sometimes there's a line that can take a minute. Easily beats Wanderlust and Salt & Straw for me. Glad they're expanding!

The ice cream was delicious- made from coconut milk and was gluten free. It’s a small place and has very few seating but the chocolate ice cream that was recommended to me, was chef’s kiss and a perfect way to cool down from the LA heat.

Passing by. Awan Ice Cream is known for its unique plant-based, dairy-free creations, it offers a rich and creamy experience without compromising on flavor. Their inventive flavors and commitment to quality ingredients make every scoop a delight. The presentation is elegant, and the service is warm and attentive. A perfect spot for vegans and anyone looking to indulge in guilt-free sweetness! I personally only like coffee flavor, after all, I am a person who only drinks Americano. So a little sweet is a torture to me.
